I want to share with you an interactive, family-friendly activity that will help you remember the Savior and His greatest gift to us this Easter season. Our family has been doing this activity for the past seven years and we still look forward to it every spring!
The supplies are simple—you probably already have most of them on hand. With some bible verses and simple props, you can walk through the last few days of Christ's life and remember all He's done for us.

Spring always takes me by surprise. It amazes me how foreign and delightful it is to wake to the sounds of birds for the first time each year.
Crazy how such a common and familiar sound goes unnoticed all through summer and fall, slowly fading away as winter comes. We don’t notice what we are missing until we hear that birdsong once again. We are surprised when we wake to sunshine instead of darkness, buds on branches that were bare yesterday, and the chirps and calls of birds as they welcome in spring. The whole earth is in re-birth!

As soon as I hear those bird songs, I know it’s time to pull out the Easter basket.
Nope... I’m not talking about the traditional Easter baskets filled with sparkly eggs, candy and toys. I’m talking about the one special Easter basket we keep tucked away in our basement—filled with straw along with 12 special props and bible verses to help us glory in the story of Easter.

Easter means something different to me every year, it seems. Some years I have felt especially raw, remembering a loved one who passed away, and feeling deeply thankful for the resurrection that promises I will see them again.
Some years I have felt overwhelmed with disbelief and gratitude at the memory that my Savior suffered for my sins, and that through Him I can become a new person—clean and whole.
And this year, reflecting on several months of uncertainty and a lot of loneliness, I feel especially grateful for Christ’s prayer in the garden—for the knowledge that He has felt my feelings, knows my thoughts and worries, and has experienced my embarrassment, insecurity, and disappointment.
I do not understand how it is possible, but I know it is true.
Jesus Christ really lived
He still lives today, and He truly is our Savior
Through Him, all will be made right someday
I hope this spring you can gather your family around you and share special moments of remembering our Savior and honoring His Easter sacrifice.

For this activity, I pull out all the pictures of Christ we have, beginning with His birth and going all the way through His resurrection. Set asideany pictures that coordinate with the Easter story, and keep the rest in a separate pile.

Egg Activity:
Now that we have talked about Christ’s life and are filled with affection for all He did on this earth, let’s take a moment to remember the last moments of His earth life.
Let the kids each draw an egg. In order, let the child open their egg, hold out the prop for all to see, and read the bible verse.
The final egg is empty, to symbolize the miracle of the empty tomb.
