Instructions - You might find this project self-explanatory, but in case you need extra help, I laid out of the steps and added some tips that we learned along the way.
1. Cut the tablecloth to size and tape it to the door. (This first step is the most cumbersome. I did it by myself before calling the kids over to help with the rest.) You want your tablecloth to be a couple of inches larger than the door on all sides so you can tape it to the sides, top and bottom of the door. Use masking tape for this, and make sure all your tape is hidden on the underside of the tablecloth. 2. Cut a slit for your door handle. Just make a simple slit with your scissors, large enough to fit the handle through. 3. Now the fun part. Call the kids over and start making your web! I drew illustrations of these next steps rather than take pictures of the process. Once the kids and I were taping the door, there was no stopping to grab the camera :). The first step in your web is to pick a starting point and attach strips of tape in a sun-ray pattern all over the door. (We chose to make our spider web off-centered but you can do this however you want. No wrong method here. 4. Connect the sunrays, making a web pattern. Simply tear off strips of tapes and connect the lines. We started on the inside and worked our way out, spreading out the lines of webbing as we got further from the center. Keep going with this until your web is just how you want it. |
Now, run outside and enjoy your spooky front door!
